Introducing Summer Hess, Our Newest Brand Ambassador!

Please welcome to the growing Bushka's Kitchen Team Summer Hess, our first Brand Ambassador! Summer truly personifies our brand and our mission to redefine how busy people eat while on the go.

To understand just how exciting this is, you first should understand what makes Summer such a cool person!

Meet Summer!

Summer Hess Professional There Outdoor Magazine

Summer Hess pulls double duty as a project manager for a nonprofit and retail hub called Community Building, and also serves as managing editor for Out There Outdoors. She is based in Spokane, WA, and regularly adventures across the Pacific Northwest and volunteers for a number of regional organizations. Oh, and she helps bring the No Man's Land film festival to Spokane. Pretty cool, right?

As a project manager for Community Building, she helps manage 6 buildings with more than 40 nonprofits and local, mission-driven businesses. The Community Building supports their tenants through below market rate rent structures, free professional development and community-building events, and a small grant-making operation called the Community Building Foundation.

She is a local food advocate and with the help of her fiancé and housemate, she cultivates an urban 1500 sq foot microfarm in her backyard, puts up the harvest, and shares the bounty with her neighbors. She also has 3 chickens, 37 houseplants, and a ravenous appetite for all things BBQ.

And if all that wasn't busy enough, she's also a weekend warrior, regularly climbing, swimming, and trail running across the greater mountain west (the rest of us at Bushka's Kitchen is wondering when she ever sleeps!)

As a busy professional and an on-the-go adventurer, she is always seeking out healthy, convenient snacks and meals for camping, road trips, and those days when life is so busy — usually several days out of the week — that she doesn't have time to prepare her own food. For her, Bushka meals seem like the perfect solution to reconciling nutritious food values with a fast-paced lifestyle.

Bushka's Kitchen is thrilled to work with Summer and to share her adventures from both the office and the outdoors! Welcome to the team, Summer!

You can follow Summer's adventures on our blog by following the tag Summer Hess and by keeping up with her social channels!

How To Maintain Social Distancing While Day Hiking

Hiking, by nature, is an activity that requires planning – sometimes only a little and sometimes months’ worth of research. Let me start by saying I hope you are safe and healthy during these uncertain times. I am writing to assure that everyone in the Bushka family is healthy and in good spirits (and using the lessoned traffic to spend more evenings night hiking. Not all social distancing needs to be done at home!)

Due to increased demand, some meals are currently out of stock or we have limited supply on remaining freeze dried meals. At this time, we are waiting for our next shipment of packaging so we can begin making more freeze dried meal pouches. We thank you for your understanding and patience.
