This hearty harvest bowl is filled to the brim with warm ingredients that convey the feeling of autumn. With chunks of wild boar and brussel sprouts and topped with caramelized onions and apple, this meal is uber delicious and comforting! Stay full with a generous serving of ginger spiced wild rice.
To rehydrate, add 12 oz boiling water to the pouch. Enjoy!
Wild Rice (Wild Rice, Fresh Orange Juice, Ground Ginger, Black Pepper), Wild Boar (Wild Boar, Fresh Orange Juice, Smoked Sea Salt, Sage, Garlic Powder, Black Pepper, Ground Ginger), Caramelized Onions, Apple, Roasted Brussels Sprouts (Brussels Sprouts, Soy Sauce (Water, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Salt), Butter (Cream, Natural Flavor), Balsamic Vinegar (Balsamic Vinegar, Contains Naturally Occurring Sulfites), Kosher Salt, Black Pepper)
The flavor was great, the texture was great, overall one of my favorite trail meals. It does come out a little watery (but that just turns into a nice "broth" you can drink at the end) and it did take about twice as long to rehydrate the rice fully than the directions said, but still not as long as any other brand I've tried. Would definitely order again!
I have tried tons of freeze dried meals from many brands, the hearty harvest bowl is my new favorite. The meat was especially good and didn't have the usual freeze dried texture. The meal also rehydrated much faster than some other, which is nice. The Brussels were chunky, much bigger than the pieces veg is usually cut into in freeze dried meals. I will be buying more, I hope they expand their menu!
I got few different flavored meals a few weeks back and finally go to try the Hearty Harvest Bowl today. I can say hands down it's my new favorite backpacking meal. I've tried tons of them over the years and this one is above and beyond any other. The chunks of pork are nice and big, the apples are great, and even the brussel sprouts are good. I still have a few others to try, but once I do I will be ordering a bunch for this summer. Thanks
The wild rice and pork pair deliciously with roasted Brussel sprouts and caramelized onion, while the balsamic vinegar and hint of orange add a delightfully complex flavor. It's as easy to imagine stashing a few of these meals at work for the days when you don't have time to prepare lunch as it is to imagine bringing them along on a multi-day backpacking trip.
Upon your first bite of this, your instantly reminded of fall. I live in New Hampshire and fall time is absolutely stunning. Its also a very short season, so trying this dish and instantly tasting fall flavors on a 90 degree summer day made for a very comforting taste! Everything about this is delicious! This one is my husbands favorite, he will regularly take this one to work when Ive slacked off on grocery shopping. And this is coming from a guy who hates rice and brussel sprouts! If your looking for a comforting tasty dish, make sure to try this one!
