Just tried the lentil lunch. My first reaction was WOW! The flavors are perfectly paired. There’s enough for me for two meals easily. Even my husband liked it and he’s not a fan of lentils. Love that it only takes 6oz of water making our supply last longer. I think we’ll make it a side dish and share an entree with it as it is very filling.
On one hand I like that the lentils are firm, on the other I feel like most dishes with lentils are mushy and that's what I was expecting. The lentils are more on the al dente side if I were to describe them. The flavor is a bit strong, but the apples and bell peppers cut through the seasoning. I like this dish when I have limited space or need a bear cannister as it folds very flat and takes up minimal room. Not my favorite entree from bushkas but it's still very good.
I'm vegetarian and a big fan of the Zesty Zoodles and Chia Morning. Unfortunately this lunch was a major disappointment. I followed the instructions to a "t" then I waited, and waited, and waited. These never seemed to hydrate adequately. Fortunately I was on a roadtrip with a cooler so I popped them in there and tried again a couple hours later. Nope, still under-hydrated. I gave up - not wanting to risk a sick stomach from undercooked lentils. I won't buy this one again. Even if they were hydrated the strong taste of dill and bell pepper were a bit too overpowering for my taste.
We sometimes sit in camp and wonder who in the heck this Bushka is? How does Bushka make all the good stuff for us sorry chaps hunting the things in the woods? Bushka must be boujee in San Fran, a trained chef with exemplary taste in seasonings and all the sorts. Bushka you blow us away and we’d be lying if we said we always mix your potatoes with your meals. They are our favorite.
Also your Rice Pudding is like tender spoonfuls of Christmas morning.
You leave us wanting more, Bushka. We might have to start feeding the kids these meals just because.
I was delighted when I opened the pouch I could smell the Arroma of the fresh Herbs and apples used in the dish. After I added the water and let it sit for the amount of time alotted in the instructions I stired it and let it sit for a minute more..This was a tasty meal. I could tast the chucnks of cucumber and apple. It has a nice sweet and tart blend that just has you going back for more. I really enjoyed this and it was simple cold soak with not that much water...Highly reccomend..
